In addition to the primary breakdown structure, you can create as many alternate breakdown structures as you wish - for example an Organisation Breakdown Structure (OBS) or a Product Breakdown Structure (PBS).
Alternate structures are built in a similar way to the primary structure, but from "summary" rather than "task" elements. A summary element may have other summaries as children, or may be linked to one or more tasks, which need not be at the lowest level of the primary structure.
The dates and resource values associated with summary elements in any alternate structure are always derived from the task elements linked to that structure.
